On the fourth and final day of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum UK Endurance Festival it was time for national riders to take to the Suffolk countryside, bringing to a close an incredible showcase of top-flight and grassroots competition.
The Festival had it all; from the 62 Pony Club riders who contested the Pony Club Championships in a truly world-class setting, the 64 riders tackling 160Km in the thrilling Meydan FEI Endurance European Championship and over 250 riders taking on a day of world class International rides. That featured a CEIO2* (Nations Cup) presented by Longines, as well as a CEI1* 80Km and young rider classes in both distances. On the closing day, more than 100 riders competed in Graded and Pleasure National rides over five distances.
In total more than 500 starters representing 33 nations competed over the four days making The H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum UK Endurance Festival the largest Endurance event staged in Europe this year.
The Festival took place under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and with the support of presenting sponsors Meydan and Longines, as well as Emirates Airline, Azizi, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City – District One and Mubadala. It was managed and delivered by HPower Group.

Event Director, Nick Brooks-Ward said: “It’s been a huge four days and we really have delivered sport from the grassroots up to the peak of international competition. The scale and enthusiasm of the Pony Club Endurance Championships – which has doubled in popularity since last year was really special. To see an incredible young Para rider (Caitlin Birkitt) win the Open Championship was a real highlight for me. Some of the Pony Club members came back to compete in the national rides today and it all points to a promising future for the sport.”
It was an honour to stage a European Championship here. The quality and excitement of the competition and the wonderful atmosphere created by the travelling fans made for an unforgettable day.”
We are extremely grateful to the Duke and Duchess of Grafton, the local landowners and all of our stewards for making the rides possible at the great setting of Euston Park. Special thanks must go to our generous Patron, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and sponsors.”
Planning for the 2020 season of Euston Park Endurance rides is already well underway and information will be posted on www.eustonparkendurance.co.uk over the coming months.
