Definite entries for next week’s Meydan FEI Endurance European Championship at Euston Park, Suffolk, UK have been released and twenty countries will be represented by 67 athletes. Amongst those entered in the biannual CH-EU 160km, which will run on Saturday 17 August and forms part of the HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum UK Endurance Festival, there are no fewer than five pairs of relatives.
On the start line will be French brothers and Tryon competitors Julien and Roman Lafaure, German sisters, Jule Klingbeil and Merle Röhm; mother and daughter teammates from Great Britain (Kate and Rachael Atkinson) and Slovakia (Lucia Supekova & Michaela Supekova) and Spanish husband and wife, Maria Alaverz Ponton and Jaume Punti Dachs. Maria won individual gold at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ in Lexington (USA) in 2010 with her famous horse Nobby and team gold at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ in Caen (FRA) in 2014 with Qualif du Poncelet. Her husband was also in the winning team.
Event Director, Nick Brooks-Ward said: “There are some great names on the entry list for the FEI Meydan Endurance European Championship but also plenty of young riders, competing at a European Championship for the first time, so we can expect a really exciting event. We are looking forward to welcoming the riders, horses, teams and all our officials to Euston Park for a real celebration of Endurance.”
Entries for all other classes (national and CEI) in the HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum UK Endurance Festival close on 12 August.
